Icarus II monitors its surroundings by using radar, a series of ultra sonic sensors and a series of high resolution cameras to monitors different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Sofia then uses this data to construct a 4D representation of her surroundings and uses that representation along with GPS data to understand and navigate autonomously around her environment.

Icarus II sends back data to the control room using encrypted satellite communication networks for secure data transmission.

Using satcoms also gives Icarus II the capability to be remotely operated.

In severe circumstances Icarus II can communicate with the control room using a series of autonomous relay’s.
